After eight fiercely contested Rounds, the Knockout Stage of Real Figures Don’t F.O.L.D is over, and an independent panel will determine which Acts go through to the Finals.
32 of CATAWOL Records’ most talented signings went head-to-head, delivering a wide-ranging showcase of sound, style and conviction to spread awareness of adult bullying in hobby spaces.
While the innovative Contest has so far been considered a success, there were not enough public votes in the Knockout Stage. This means, according to the Contest rules, an independent panel of judges will decide the finalists.
The independent panel comprises music industry professionals, community leaders and advocates for fairness, each selected for their expertise and impartiality through a rigorous review process. All panel members are anonymous and unaffiliated with CATAWOL Records.
Fan Voices: Who They Want to See
As the judgement is taking place, we asked supporters to share their thoughts on the Contest so far, including which Acts they voted for and who they hope will advance.
“High School Dropout from the start,” one supporter expressed, “but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t supporting Bryknii too. I’d like to see them both in the Final, that would be fire.”
“For me, Soline Bellefort and Clémence Duval are Finals material,” another fan chimed in, supporting both French-speaking Acts. “They have completely different energies, but they belong at the top.”
“My vote [in Round 3] was for Cielo Groove and Saima Gaines because the chemistry is undeniable,” said a third supporter. “But if they had to go up against Bryknii again? That would be even more dramatic.”
“Chelsea Chapel and GRMLN,” said one attendee. “You’ve got Chelsea with that quiet classiness, and GRMLN knows how to control the crowd.”
“The real showdown, if you ask me, is The Coastliners versus The Forty Twos,” said another supporter. “Both barbershop [quartets], but completely different.”
CATAWOL Records Addresses F.O.L.D Interference Rumours
A spokesperson for CATAWOL Records also addressed ongoing rumours surrounding the F.O.L.D and alleged interference in the Contest.
We have been made aware of speculation that the F.O.L.D has encouraged ignoring of the Contest, whether by blocking our promotional efforts or outright coercion. We have also been informed of potential interference with our voting process.
We partnered with the MODE Family to raise awareness of bullying and intimidation, and we have no intention to be overshadowed by avoidance or obstruction. We remain committed to transparency, fairness and the values at the heart of the campaign.
This also makes the F.O.L.D.'s continued silence regarding their stance on bullying deeply disappointing.
What Comes Next
All eyes are now on the outcome of the independent panel’s adjudication. All information about the Finals will be kept a closely guarded secret until the official countdown, which is scheduled for 1 August.
