As CATAWOL Records’ most high-profile Act, it’s no surprise that Bryknii has reached the Finals of the Real Figures Don’t F.O.L.D Song Contest — and with it comes both expectation and opportunity.
As one of the original favourites, the superstar - with a career spanning 16 years - enters the decisive stage under immense pressure to win.
Her spotlight also turns to old rivalries, unanswered questions, and what victory could mean for her future.
What does the Contest mean to you?
Speaking ahead of the Final, Bryknii described the Contest as a rare chance to bring her work to a wider audience while standing for something bigger than herself.
The Contest means everything to me. It’s not just about competing: it’s about being part of something that shines a light on the kind of behaviour people too often brush aside in hobby spaces. If my music can help people feel seen, heard, or protected, then that matters more than any trophy.
Tell us about your version of the song.
Bryknii’s Finals entry reflects the discipline and confidence that have defined her long career. Crafted with her usual polished production approach, the track balances impact with control, designed to land strongly in a live Contest setting while still carrying emotional depth.
I wanted the song to feel immediate, but also layered. Every detail was chosen to support the message and the performance. I’ve always believed that if you’re going to make a statement, the music has to stand on its own as well.
That approach has helped establish Bryknii as one of the most watched Finalists, with fans and critics alike waiting to see whether her experience and ambition will carry her through.
If not you, which Finalist would you like to see win?
Bryknii was generous in her answer, even naming a specific Finalist.
If it isn’t me, I’d want to see someone who truly connected with people and brought something honest to the Contest. Every Finalist earned their place here, and that should be recognised.
Soline Bellefort stood out to me: she has a really strong identity, and that’s always compelling. I think audiences respond when an Act knows exactly who they are.
On Saima Gaines: “I’m Focused on the Music”
Attention has consistently remained fixed on Bryknii’s long-running rivalry with Saima Gaines (also a Finalist, in collaboration with Cielo Groove). Their feud has shaped much of the conversation around her Contest run, especially as they now repeat their Knockouts Stage clash.
When asked about any possibility of settling their differences, Bryknii kept her response measured.
I’m focusing on the Finals and the music. People know there’s history, but this moment is bigger than any drama. I’m not looking to reopen anything — I’m looking forward.
In addition, since qualifying for the Finals as a solo Act, Bryknii has had no contact with Kat Soo (their collaboration being knocked out in Round 5). The absence has only added to the intrigue surrounding her path to this Stage.
What's next after this Contest?
Whatever the outcome, Bryknii says this Contest is only one chapter in a much larger story.
After this, there’s more music coming, more performances, and more to say. This Contest has reminded me why I do this — and it’s pushed me to keep going with even more conviction.
